Deactivation and regeneration of solid acid and base catalyst bodies used in cascade for bio-oil synthesis and upgrading

چکیده
The modes of deactivation -and the extent to which their properties can be restored- two catalyst bodies used in cascade for bio-oil synthesis have been studied. These catalysts include a solid acid granulate (namely ZrO2/desilicated zeolite ZSM-5/attapulgite clay) employed ex-situ catalytic fast pyrolysis biomass, and base extrudate (K-exchanged USY/attapulgite subsequent upgrading. Post-mortem analyses both with Raman spectroscopy confocal fluorescence microscopy revealed presence highly poly-aromatic coke distributed an egg-shell manner. Deactivation due adsorption onto sites affected ZSM-5-based catalyst, while it is structural integrity loss, resulting from KOH-mediated framework collapse, main deactivating factor. A hydrothermal regeneration process reversed detrimental effects largely recovering acidity (?80%) textural (?90%), but worsened damage suffered by catalyst.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Application, Deactivation, and Regeneration of Heterogeneous Catalysts in Bio-Oil Upgrading
The massive consumption of fossil fuels and associated environmental issues are leading to an increased interest in alternative resources such as biofuels. The renewable biofuels can be upgraded from bio-oils that are derived from biomass pyrolysis. Catalytic cracking and hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) are two of the most promising bio-oil upgrading processes for biofuel production. Heterogeneous cat...
متن کاملUpgrading of Bio-oil Molecular Distillation Fraction with Solid Acid Catalyst
Molecular distillation technology has been adopted to obtain a bio-oil fraction rich in carboxylic acids and ketones. This unique bio-oil fraction was then upgraded with a La-promoted solid acid catalyst. Three washing pretreatments were used to prepare catalysts A, B, and C, with the intention of reducing the amounts of residual sulfuric acid. Model reactions were used to estimate their cataly...
